Privacy.
Plain-English summary first, then the longer policy. If you have any question about how Lecturly handles your data, write to legal@lecturly.ai and we will answer it.
The short version
- We collect your account info (email, name) and the slides you upload. That’s it. We do not buy or sell user data.
- Slides and the narration audio we generate from them sit in encrypted cloud storage. Both are deletable from your account at any time.
- Slide text is sent to AI providers so we can produce the lesson plan, animation, and narration. The providers we use have committed not to train their models on the content you upload.
- Billing is handled by a third-party payments provider. We never see or store your full card number.
- You can delete any lecture from your account; the underlying file and audio are removed from storage in the same operation.
What we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and (if you sign in with Google) your display name and avatar URL. You can edit or remove the display name from your account page.
Content you upload
When you upload a PDF or PowerPoint, we extract the text content (and PowerPoint speaker notes, if present) so we can split it into topics and generate lessons. The original file is stored in your private folder in our encrypted cloud storage and is accessible only to you.
Generated content
The narration audio and animation produced by Lecturly are stored alongside the source file. If you mark a lesson as shared, the share link grants signed-in users read-only access to that single lesson; sharing can be revoked from the lecture menu at any time.
Usage events
We log when lessons are generated (timestamps, model used, token count, duration) so we can monitor system health, debug failures, and bill the underlying AI providers correctly. These logs do not contain your slide content.
Payment information
Subscription and pack purchases are processed by our third-party payments provider. We store your customer ID and subscription status; the payments provider stores your payment method. We never see your full card number.
Where data goes
Lecturly relies on a small number of third-party providers to run: a cloud database and storage layer for your account and files, AI providers for the language and animation models that produce the lesson, a text-to-speech provider for the narration audio, and a payments provider for billing. The contractual terms with each of these providers prohibit training their models on the content you upload. We will update this page if any of those terms change.
Retention & deletion
Lectures stay in your account until you delete them. Deleting a lecture removes the database row, the original file, and the generated audio in the same request. Deleting your account removes all of the above plus your profile and subscription record.
Our payments provider is required by law to keep transaction records for several years; their retention is governed by their own privacy policy.
Your rights
You can: view, edit, or delete your data from your account page; export a copy by writing to legal@lecturly.ai; or close your account at any time. If you’re in the EU or UK, you have additional rights under GDPR. Same email address; we will respond within 30 days.
Cookies
We use cookies for authentication (your signed-in session) and theme preference. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics with cross-site tracking.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects how your data is handled, we will email registered users before the change takes effect.
